Science Fiction and Fantasy Saturday: Snippets Galore!

It’s been a while since I consorted with the crew from SFFS and it’s good to be back! My snippet is from a current work in progress, Blue Planet. Here’s a link to an earlier snippet. It has no right to still be a work in progress; it really should have been finished and submitted by now. But its been giving me problems! *lashes self with wet noodle*

Blue Planet is the final part of the Blue Universe series from Carina Press, of which Blue Galaxy and Blue Nebula are the first and second installments in the trilogy. After the snippet, please click the link to discover snippets from other science fiction and fantasy authors from, well, from around our blue planet actually. They’ll all be up by Saturday morning. Enjoy!

Destin sat up, rubbed the sleep from eyes, blinked, then focused. No doubt about it, Hathaway was pointing a gun right between his eyes.

“I hope you enjoyed your last night on Earth, Grady.”

He studied the tip of the quivering gun, Hath’s clenched features and the tears dripping down her face. “I did, thank you.” He shrugged, attempting a smile. “Most men don’t get to have that much fun on their last night. Go right ahead and kill me. I’ve already lived too long and seen too much. I can’t think of a better way or a more perfect day to die.”

An interesting take…but if you’ve had that much fun, there’s nowhere to go but down. 😉

Destin must have klingon blood in him… Cool in the face of impending destruction. What is bringing Hathaway to this action? I’m intrigued! Good snippet – thank you!

  3. Great hook with waking with a gun in his face. Love the details like the tears and quivering gun–really puts the reader in the scene. And his response? Classic. Enjoyed your snippet.

Interesting snippet. I wonder what’s made her decide to shoot him (or at least point a gun at him).

    Welcome back, btw! 🙂
