Science Fiction Fantasy Saturday

It’s almost the weekend. That means it’s time for SFFS. My snippet this week comes from Blue Nebula, the sequel to Blue Galaxy. It’s currently out on sub. Cross your fingers for me!

In this excerpt our heroine, Sola, has just had an emotional encounter with someone she hasn’t seen in a long time.

Sola stared at her sister. Serena’s charred hair hung around her face, her eyes haunted, her grimacing smile quite insane. Sola felt a strange sensation in her eyes. She touched her finger to one and it came away wet. She looked at the salty tear that ran down her finger.

“Your weakness, Sola,” Serena whispered. “That’s what father says. Actually caring. You little fool.” Her smile was soft and sad and fleeting.
